Regardless, anyone who has the privilege of having a 74 Chevrolet Nova sitting in their garage has access to a key piece of muscle car history. According to Automobile Catalog it had a similar quarter mile time to the Chevy Nova. With that being said, the Austin Marina GT was labeled with a "GT" for a reason. Now let's be real - the Austin Marina looked somewhat like an older SAAB and could be considered more of a sports car. Some may debate whether the 1974 Austin Marina GT was actually competition for the Nova SS. It had some changes made in 1974 due to safety regulations.

The Camaro could arguably be considered the most popular muscle car of all time. The 1974 AMC Javelin 232 Automatic had similar power and was pretty cool looking as well. Let's not forget probably the most admired competitor, namely the Chevrolet Camaro Coupe 250 Turbo-Thrift. Car buyers at the time had several muscle cars to choose from.
#1977 NOVA STOCK MANUAL#
BW's were the close ratio manual transmission in later Z-28's only(eg 1979). Neither BW or Muncies were available for 4th gen Novas. Saginaw 4 speeds were the only transmission I ever saw in 1977 Novas, including the one I own-all 4 spds were wide ratio. It is important to make sure all components that are being reused (evaporator, condenser, liquid line/hose, all valves) are either changed or flushed and clean of contamination before installation and charging of the system. The Chevy Nova SS by no means had a monopoly within the muscle car industry in 1974. Further documentation is available in any 1977 Chevrolet Service Manual or Chiltons. This kit is designed for use with the newer 134a refrigerant. Other than crimping one end of the hoses and charging the system, no other specialized tools or knowledge is required for installation of parts. Hose Crimping instructions can be downloaded by CLICKING HERE. It is recommended, however, to have the system evacuated & charged by a professional. General rule of thumb is if you change your own parts, you can change these parts.
